Ensure that you check the sauna stones regularly. The stones that lie directly on the heating elements are exposed to extreme thermal conditions. The change in temperature causes small cracks in the stone, which lead to disintegration over time. This "stone rubble" falls between the larger stones and obstructs air circulation between them. This causes the heating elements to burn out. Sauna stones must therefore be replaced or restacked regularly.
