Should I turn off the hot tub in winter?
We regularly receive questions from people who want to turn off their spa in the winter to save on electricity costs.
Our urgent advice is to only lower the temperature of your spa (if you do not want to use it during the winter months) rather than turning it off or draining it.
Set the spa to the lowest possible temperature; this is often around 20 degrees Celsius. By adjusting the temperature in this way, the spa remains in optimal condition while you reduce energy costs.
When a spa is turned off and drained, seals will dry out. And if it freezes, frost damage can occur because you can never get all the water out of the spa's pipes.
