Different types of insulation
There are different types of insulation systems for spas.
1. Non-insulated spas (e.g., inflatable spas)
2. Spas with insulated cabinets
3. Fully foamed spas with 8 kg/m3 foam density
4. Spas fully filled with FiberCor insulation 32 kg/m3
5. Fully foamed spas with Multi-Cell or closed-cell foam

Consumption is indicated in the chart above, with the non-insulated spa taken as 100%.
A spa with an insulated cabinet often uses about 20% less, although we see very large differences in the type of insulation here. Better types of insulation can result in up to 60% lower consumption.
Fully foamed spas with 8 kg/m3 foam density provide about 40% lower consumption. Although fully foamed, this type of foam is light and therefore insulates less effectively than Multi-Cell or closed-cell foams.
FiberCor insulation provides 60% lower consumption compared to a non-insulated spa. A major advantage of this is that the insulation is easy to remove and replace during repairs.
Fully foamed spas with Multi-Cell or closed-cell foam insulate by far the best. They deliver savings of up to 80% compared to non-insulated spas.
