Ensure that you check the sauna stones regularly. The stones lying directly on the heating elements are exposed to extreme thermal conditions. The change in temperature causes small cracks in the stone that lead to disintegration over time. This “stone grit” falls in between the larger stones and prevents air circulation between them. This causes the heating elements to burn out. Sauna stones must therefore be replaced or restacked regularly.
